Wanna see something really scarey?
Halloween is almost upon us and the home video market is geared up to deliver a library of frights, thrillers, and sci fi. There are a number of highlights, including the amazing follow up to 28 Days Later, The Shining in HD, Kevin Costner, a few classics and a bunch of straight up slashers. Wherever your taste leans, this Halloween has something for everyone.


28 Weeks Later



The creative team of Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, and Andrew Macdonald are back to re-invent the zombie movie yet again with the sequel to 28 Days Later. Lead by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, 28 Weeks Later picks up six months after the Rage virus has decimated the city of London. The US Army has restored order and is repopulating the quarantined city, when a carrier of the Rage virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection, wreaking havoc on the entire population.


Grindhouse Presents, Planet Terror - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition)



Grindhouse – noun – A downtown movie theater - in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace of the '30s and '40s - known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies. From groundbreaking directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez comes the ultimate film experience: a double-bill of thrillers that will recall both filmmakers' favorite exploitation films. Grind House will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director. Tarantino's film, Death Proof, is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez's film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in Planet Terror. Wrong Turn 2 - Dead End (Unrated)



Retired military commander Colonel Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) hosts the simulated post-apocalyptic reality show where participants are challenged to survive a remote West Virginia wasteland. But the show turns into a nightmarish showdown when each realizes they are being hunted by an inbred family of cannibals determined to make them all dinner!


Twilight Zone - The Movie



Four short horrorific tales are anthologized in this film as a tributeto rod serling and his popular tv series.


Black Sheep (Unrated)



Terrified of sheep and dosed up on therapy, Henry Oldfield (Nathan Meister) returns to his family's farm to sell out to his older brother Angus (Peter Feeney), unaware that something baaaad is going on: Angus' reckless genetic engineering program.

When a pair of inept environmental activists release a mutant lamb from Angus' laboratory onto the farm, thousands of sheep are turned into bloodthirsty predators. Along with farmhand Tucker (Tammy Davis) and greenie girl Experience (Danielle Mason), Henry finds himself stranded deep on the farm as his worst nightmare comes to life.

Battling their way to safety the intrepid trio discover there's worse to come: one bite from an infected sheep seems to have alarming effect on those bitten...

With Angus acting suspiciously sheepish, a delegation of international investors gathering at the homestead and a ravenous flock descending from the hills, Henry must find the farmer within to wrest control of the farm from his monstrous brother, defeat an ovine invasion and save New Zealand's pastures green.


Rise - Blood Hunter (Unrated)



Rise is a supernatural thriller in which a reporter (Liu) wakes up in a morgue to discover she is no longer among the living. She vows revenge against the cult responsible for putting her there and hunts them down one by one. Chiklis plays 'Rawlins,' a haunted police detective whose daughter is killed by the same cult and seeks answers for her gruesome death.


The Reaping



In The Reaping, Hilary Swank plays a former Christian missionary who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed, and has since become a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening and she must regain her faith to combat the dark forces threatening the community.


The Invisible



From the producers of "The Sixth Sense" and the co-writer of "Batman Begins," "The Invisible" is a supernatural thriller about a writer who finds himself trapped between the world of the living and the dead-completely invisible to the living. Nick (Justin Chatwin) has a bright future until he is brutally attacked and left for dead. Now in limbo, his only chance to live again is to figure out the mystery of what happened to him and why, before his time runs out. But how do you solve a murder, when the victim is you?


Mr. Brooks



Earl Brooks (played by Academy Award winner, Kevin Costner) is a loving family man and a local business icon. But Mr. Brooks is deeply flawed and very aware of it. He is addicted to killing. Struggling with his pathology, he tries to quit, but his alter-ego, "Marshall" (played by Academy Award winner, William Hurt), has an altogether different idea. "Marshall" enjoys his "existence" and his "work."

Tenacious Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore), battling with her own demons, is extremely frustrated at the lack of clues left by the mysterious killer. When Brooks is compelled to perform one last murder, despite his strong reservations, he delivers the goods with trademark ritualistic style. But this time he gets sloppy and is seen by a voyeuristic neighbor. Unexpectedly turned-on by what he sees, the prying neighbor, Mr. Smith (Dane Cook), has an unusual and disturbing blackmail demand.

With the dogged Detective Atwood on his trail, Mr. Brooks and "Marshall" are forced to play out an increasingly elaborate game.


The Shining [Blu-ray/HD]



Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel in up in the secluded mountains of Colorado. Jack, being a family man, takes his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son (Danny Lloyd) to the hotel to keep him company throughout the long, isolated nights. During their stay, strange things occur when Jack's son Danny sees gruesome images powered by a force called 'the shining' and Jack is heavily affected by this. Along with writer's block and the demons of the hotel haunting him, Jack has a complete mental breakdown and the situation takes a sinister turn for the worse.
