BBC Casts Ellen Page as Jane Eyre

BBC has cast Ellen Page (of Smart People and Juno) as the title character in its upcoming production of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre, Variety reports.

As governess Jane Eyre becomes better acquainted with her hard-hearted employer, Mr. Rochester, she learns to see past his harsh exteriors and slowly falls in love.

 

At least 20 film or TV versions have already been made of Jane Eyre including a miniseries that BBC won three Emmys for last year. Bronte’s novel is one of the most adapted novels in English literature and continues to capture the hearts of many.

 

BBC plans to begin shooting the new version of the film this fall.
