This fall, Justin Timberlake produces The Phone, a new reality show that takes contestants and TV viewers on a race against time. Viewers won’t want to put this show on silent.
Timberlake is producing the show for MTV and FermantleMedia. Each episode acts as a mini-movie full of action and, as always, cash prizes. Two cell phones are placed on opposite sides of a city. When a phone rings, a mysterious guide gives the person who answers the phone five seconds to decide whether or not to play the game. Led by the guide, contestants embark on their given mission. A helicopter tracks every move they make. Each time a contestant fails a task, their cash prize amount lessens.
“We’re turning the reality competition format on its head and plunging contestants into a real life Bourne Identity,” says Executive Vice President of Programming and Series Development, Tony Disanto. “This is Popcorn TV!”
Viewers’ will be able to dial into The Phone fall 2008.
