The official site for the Tony Awards has announced that actress Whoopi Goldberg will host this year's Tony Awards.

Goldberg has hosted several Academy Awards and, aside from her film career, has starred in her own one-woman show on Broadway.  She has also starred on Broadway in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Forum and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.  Her role as producer for Thoroughly Modern Millie won her a Tony award in 2002.

David Hyde Pierce and Sara Ramirez will announce the nominees for the awards on May 13.  Nominees will join Goldberg in the Radio City Music Hall on June 15 for the 62nd annual Tony Awards.
