If you are a 16 year old male you are sure to love Bachelor Party 2: Last Temptation. Although, I am most definitely not a 16 year old male, I still thought it was funny. It is a raunchy comedy that is very similar to the American Pie movies. Apparently it is a sequel but I have never seen or heard of the first one. If sex jokes and toilet humor are not your thing than Bachelor Party 2 probably isn’t either. The director James Ryan made a funny and goofy movie about bachelor party shenanigans.
Ron (Josh Cooke) has recently popped the question to his girlfriend of two months Melinda (Sara Foster). Melinda accepted his proposal and they are set to wed in a short while. Melinda’s sleazy brother-in-law, Todd (Warren Christie) is worried that Ron will infringe on his plans to become successful in the family business run by Melinda’s father. In order to make sure that Ron gets no where near the family business he sets up an elaborate scheme to ruin Ron and Melinda’s happily ever after.
Todd offers to throw Ron a very elaborate bachelor party in the tropics. Ron reluctantly accepts Todd’s seemingly innocent offer. Ron’s friends accept more enthusiastically and the bachelor party vacation is underway. Of course where would the immature and inappropriate comedy be if there weren’t some talk about sex and boobs? Speaking of boobs there are many different scenes where girls are half naked so watch out if you are offended easily.
Todd’s entire plan is to have Ron sleep with someone thus ruining his and Melinda’s engagement. He makes this very clear because he sets up intricate little traps to try and weaken Todd’s faithfulness. Ultimately Todd almost gets the best of Ron, but Ron proves too loyal to Melinda.
During this entire time Todd’s friends have their own little adventures as well. Jason (Greg Pitts), Derek (Harland Williams), and Seth (Danny Jacobs) are all of Ron’s slightly loser-ish but lovable friends. Jason is a pudgy and kind of a gross horn ball who has several run-ins with sex-aholics that are staying at the same hotel that they are. Derek is a lazy 40 something that could have been successful if it wasn’t for his lack of work ethic. He has married three women and has been divorced from all of them. He undoubtedly gets married again while on vacation in a drunken state and spends the rest of the vacation trying to figure out who the lucky woman is. Last but not least is Seth, the obsessive compulsive, sexually frustrated man who is trying to figure out why one of the girls they have met is reading a book about Hitler. These guys make the movie really fun to watch because all of their characters are absolutely ridiculous.
Josh Cooke, the actor that plays Ron is the standard everyday guy. He’s the fun yet not out of control friend and the perfect boyfriend. That is really not that hard of a character to play but Cooke plays Ron very well without being obnoxiously angelic. I have never seen this actor in anything else but he deserves some accreditation for his role and some more parts, preferably something that could even better display his acting talents.
Warren Christie, the actor that plays Todd is the classic slime ball. I did not think that Christie was anything special. Usually when someone acts in a roll like this you want the character to get run over by a truck at the end of the movie. He didn’t evoke any strong emotions from me.
Again all the other characters were a real treat to watch. They were so over the top it was hilarious. Especially Greg Pitts, who played Jason. He played the obnoxiously sexual friend humorously. I hope to see him in more comedies.
The Special Features included a featurette, a “making of” special, a gag reel, deleted scenes and a commentary. They were just as funny as the movie and included some great material.
Again, if immature humor makes you laugh Bachelor Party 2 is great for you. However, it is one of those movies where you would be embarrassed to tell people that you thought it was funny. Being that I am not one to really get embarrassed by my movie tastes I will tell you now I have no problem in saying I liked this movie and would watch it anytime for a quick pick me up. So watch it for a good time. No maturity needed.
