Dexter, one of the most unique television series around, is the story of a guy who lives a double life: one for the police force and one as an emotionless vigilante killer. The only moral justice Dexter shows is that the people he kills are not just random choices, but they are other killers who cannot be punished any other way, according to Dexter’s judgment. The show, which succeeds in being creepy and thrilling and even a little endearing, amazingly, all at once, has power over lots of fans who keep coming back for more.

The second season, due to hit stores in the box set on August 19, aired on CBS from September 2007 to December 2007 with a total of 12 episodes of killing frenzies, lies, and multiple public identities. The episodes appear in their entirety on DVD, but there are several enjoyable bonus features included in the set as well.

For fans of Dexter, the box set includes a Michael C. Hall podcast as well as an interview contained on CD-ROM. Additionally, there is a fourth disk feature of short bios and an image gallery from the show on-the-set. Although these are fan-geared bonus features, they are not very extensive or unique and may be a little disappointing.

In addition to the Dexter-based features, there are several other promotional inclusions for television. These include two full episodes of the second season of Showtime’s series Brotherhood, the first two episodes of season 2 of The Tudors and several more. While these bonuses are kind of cool previews for would-be fans or just tidbits for viewers who already like these other shows, they seem kind of unrelated and a little disappointing: the space they take up could be reserved for items related to the featured series!

The special features on this disk are also not rated.
