Lil’ Bush: Resident of the United States is a crudely created cartoon that follows along the same lines as one of its predecessors, South Park airing on Comedy Central. The show is a gigantic spoof on the real-life Presidency, as seen through the eyes of little children, yet the children (Lil’ George and his counterparts) have more adventures than the merely political.
The second season DVD contains the original ten full-length episodes and an additional selection of bonus features. In addition to audio commentaries, the disks also feature some added animations for viewers’ entertainment. The second disk contains a full 20-minute episode comprised only of preliminary sketches, in addition to a couple of episodes with added commentary. The episode made entirely of original sketches is very interesting and, although it does not include commentary, it does give viewers an opportunity to see what goes into the making of this show. Disk one contains more bonus features, including three videos. The first, running for 7 minutes, contains hosted Web clips from the show’s Web releases. The other features include a 3 minute Lil’ Bush music video and an episode with commentary.
The set does not contain a ton of added features for fans of the show, and really this set does not stand up well against some other animated DVD releases, such as those more recently released from Family Guy and South Park, this show’s biggest competitors. Probably the most appealing feature of this box set is the fact that it sells “uncensored” for viewers wanting to see the show uncut. In reality, this set falls pretty far short of the mark set by its counterparts’ DVD releases. It seems like the kind of set that an already-fan might invest in, but without a ton of special features, it will have a bit of trouble attracting a new audience.
