Directed by Marc Schoelermann, Pathology is an gruesome film which depicts a group of pathological medical students that take part in game with one another involving which one of them can create the flawless murder of their patients they are examining.  A rather disturbing and very uncomfortable story line to watch, Pathology shows how each medical student kills their own victim and competes with one other as to the most creative, best way.  It is a creepy and disgusting concept.

I warn you from the opening scene of the film, it is rated R for a reason.  There is an extreme amount of gore and violence mixed with an abundance of drug use and sex.  It is definitely not what one calls a clean horror film with a feel good ending.  The graphic images and bodies being ripped open and torture are very difficult to watch.

Overall, I thought the plot line was very interesting and unique.  I will not directly say it was good because the premise behind it was very unethical and evil, but it did keep my attention to the very end.  There was also some unexpected plot twists and turns which led its viewers thinking and seeing how far one would really go just to win the sick game they have created for the best murder?  It make one hypothesis about whether or not people would actually do such an evil act in the world and makes one generalize that perhaps this film is based off an experience of citing of this type of act.  Scary.

The story is very unconventional because it is not your traditional horror film.  It is almost more like a twisted, sick plot scheme.  There are multiple murderers and villains, not just one.  No one can be trusted throughout the entire film and there is no one person to blame.  The actors I thought did a phenomenal job being completely sick and demented and made me not like them right away, which is a good thing on their part.  There mannerisms and voice dimensions made the film creepy to watch as they were constantly torturing and killing their patients.

It is a fairly faced paced film in which there many torture and gore images linked together, which at times leaves in unsettling feeling in the bottom of one’s stomach.  The intent of the story was put together smoothly. However, the definition of forensic pathology according to Webster is, “concerned with the determining the cause of death by examination of a cadaver.”  The students create a game by doing their study for each others murders of the victims, a serious disturbing thought and process.

I give this film three stars for its uniqueness and strong attention wise plot line.  Also the acting was very commendable and easy follow and relate.  However, I thought the film was entirely too graphic.  Definitely do not even watch this film in the same room where children may be.  Beware of the guts and the game!
