Vin Diesel stars as Navy SEAL Lieutenant Shane Wolfe in Disney's family comedy, The Pacifier. After failing his last mission, Wolfe hopes to redeem himself with his new assignment; watching over five undisciplined children. His orders are to keep the family safe while also looking for their father's classified security program. When mom leaves to investigate a safety deposit box and the nanny quits, he must take over full responsibility of the children. It does not take him long to discover that diapers and bedtime stories can be much more frightening than combat!
The Pacifier is perfect for parents looking to find something suitable for the entire family to watch together. Unfortunately, adult viewers might not be quite as thrilled about it as the kids. Although the storyline does grab your attention in the beginning, it seems to fizzle somewhere in the middle. While Diesel is quite believable as a tough Navy SEAL, his transformation into protective mother hen is just too predictable.
Younger viewers, however, will enjoy the situations that Diesel gets himself into like becoming Lulu's Firefly Den Mother and chasing after a bus on a small pink bicycle. Equally entertaining will be the fight sequence that incorporates ordinary household items and a variety of toys.
The Bonus Features included on this DVD were another disappointment. Instead of having a variety of bloopers to choose from, the bloopers were strung together in a music video type fashion. While this seemed like a creative idea, it was almost as if you were watching variations of the same blooper over and over.
The deleted scenes were uneventful, although that's probably why they were wisely discarded for the movie. The on set look at Brad Garrett seems to be the best of the Bonus Features. His amusing commentary on both his own character in the movie and his thoughts on Vin Diesel almost make this section of the DVD worth watching.
