A.J. Pierzynski experiences high numbers out of training. Could it have resulted out of some Flash Focus training?
That may seem like a funny question, but the answer can be found in Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski. The Chicago Sun Times has recently published an article stating that Pierzynski spent mornings in the locker room at spring training playing his Nintendo DS. Pierzynski has been using Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day to improve his hand-eye coordination and field of vision.

The results thus far have been positive: 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, and .458 batting average. He was also named AL Player of the Week for the first week of the 2008 season.

And this brings us back to the funny question: can your DS make you a better baseball player? If you devote a little time every day to playing Flash Focus, it might just do that.

So what is Flash Focus all about? Published by Nintendo and developed by Namco Bandai Games, Flash Focus is an “edutainment” game based around minigames that train your eyes. Essentially, it is the visual equivalent to the brain training you can get from Brain Age and Big Brain Academy. By playing this assortment of quick and easy minigames you exercise your peripheral vision, and hone your hand-eye coordination. Games include basketball slides, boxing, baseball batting, and many other sport and non-sport related activities. Flash Focus even includes an eye relaxation process after training, helping you to unwind your vision after a strenuous round of training.

It will be interesting to see how Pierzynski does for the rest of the season, and if playing Flash Focus will become a part of his daily routine. But if he can keep putting up numbers as good as those from week one, it would seem silly to not utilize the eye-enhancing power of this $19.99 MSRP title.
