Re-Birth
Finally, a new Medal of Honor game to look forward to. When I first saw that a new MOH was coming out, I really wasn’t that excited. The last few titles have been games that I haven’t even heard about, instead everyone talks about Call of Duty. I decided to take a look at what this came has to offer however, and it actually seems really exciting.

The one big feature that this game brags is the openness of its battles. The player doesn’t just follow a linear path through a battlefield, fighting the same enemies in the same places every time you play the level. Instead, the player will parachute wherever he or she wants to on the battlefield, hence the name, Airborne. This is a really cool feature that could turn out to make the game awesome. Whenever I play first person shooters, especially World War II ones, I always get bored at how you just march through the level on a pre-set path. That is not how war is fought. The battles should be giant maps in which the player can go wherever he or she wants and fight however he or she wants. This is what Airborne does for you.

You can choose to land in the pre-planned landing zones, where you will have supplies and allies close by. You can choose to land behind enemy lines instead. You can choose to land right on top of the objective and fight your way through. You can land smoothly and run right into the battle, or you can botch your landing and hurt yourself before you even fire a shot. This is what a World War II game should be. You can do each level in a ton of different ways, leaving the game open to replay.

The shooting is going to be very similar to Rainbow Six, being able to raise your gun up and use its sights for more accurate shooting and you can duck behind cover in a similar way. This to me is a good feature, because this is a tried and tested system that works. You will have plenty of WW2 weapons at your disposal that you can upgrade as you gain more experience.

I was planning on buying Call of Duty 3 for my Xbox 360, but now I think I am going to wait until August 28th when Medal of Honor: Airborne comes out. I’m going to have to give this game a shot before I choose to buy something else.
