After spending the entire weekend in the forest with my friends on a survival trip, the absolute last thing on Earth I wanted to do is play a party game with the very same bastards I had to share a small area with for multiple days. Oh, the stench! Psh, gamers! Ugh. Anyway, what’s this? Oh great, a party game. Sometimes I think that I'm cursed. Looks like I have to call these freaks up so I can fully experience this game.
Weak.
If you own a Wii then you are very familiar with the whole party game concept. You may want to call up a few friends, throw back a few choice beverages, and enjoy. So, this game is pretty freaking cute. My eyes hurt just by looking at the box. From playing the story mode, I've come to find out that you are in control of White, an epically cute character who has just left his vacation to return back home to Bomberman Land. He plans to compete in a tournament to defeat the current evil Bomberman who has won the last championship. Apparently epically cute characters can also be evil, kind of like the chupacabra.
Controls are ultra responsive, exactly what I expected. It has situations where you will use the Wii mote in ways that you may normally not use them, unless you are accustomed to playing party games for the Wii. Incidentally, this is an area where I have issues with the Wii and Nintendo in general. I understand that if you have a good thing going, then why stop? But seriously, I’m tired of getting my hopes up for something different before being accosted with the same thing, but with different avatars. I digress, gameplay is great. I had a fun time with my friends playing the mini games where you will hop across logs on a river or sort bombs by color.
Lots of blues and whites all over the game give it a soothing visual aspect that actually works! It made me want to sleep, but in a good way. The sounds that this game produced were also very soothing. The music was actually good enough to make a CD and play in my car on the way to work or school. Maybe it could make me forget that I’m 26 and still in college. No, nothing can make me forget that.
Some may ask, “Does this game have a replay value?" and the answer is “Yes.” I can play this game for a few months down the line as long as I have friends who want to play with me. Otherwise, no. The story mode is too taxing to play through more than once. I will play this game more in the future. I suggest you get this game if you have roommates, friends who live on your couch, or if you're married, like myself. Have fun.
