About a year after its PC release Enemy Territories: Quake Wars finally gets a console version. For those of you have not already played it on PC, Quake Wars is team based FPS in which you and your team-mates must complete objectives on asymmetrical maps. Changing between four different classes with their own unique abilities helps keep the gameplay from getting too repetitive. With everyone switching job classes all the time, it's fun to come up with new ways to meet your objectives. Though ET:QW lacks in the visual department in comparison to its PC counterpart, and the controls do not carry over well outside of a keyboard (which is especially true with vehicles) it still is one of the most solid PC to console ports I have played.
Enemy Territories only really lacks in two categories. The single player campaign is pretty much non-existent, and there is no online rewards system, the likes of which can be found in titles such as Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. Even though single player mode is a viable option, it’s essentially the same as online play, except you’re doing battle with AI-infused bots instead of real players. That isn’t to say, however, that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is not a great multiplayer experience in its own right, complete with tried-and-true FPS mechanics. If first person shooters are your thing and you have had your fill of similar titles, then Enemy Territory: Quake Wars should be right up your ally.
