Originally part of Roc-A Fella's State Property Collective, Young Chris and Neef aka Chris Nief and Hanif Muhammed, were responsible for the hit "Can't Stop Won't Stop" - off the second State Property compilation - which earned them enough success to record their first solo album, Tough Luv. While Roc-A-Fella had high hopes for this album, and though it was supported heavily by Jay-Z, it failed to live up to expectations.
Now along comes Brothers From Another, and it seems Young Gunz has done it again. You could put this on at a party and no one would complain about it most likely. Then again, nobody would remember it either. With simple, unvarying rhythms set to such lyrics such as "Ain't no party like a YG party cause a YG party don't stop" - from the aptly named "Don't Stop (YG Party)" - it's hard to consider this album momentous in any way. It's rap's equivalent to Wonder Bread - predictable and safe. Featuring beats to grind to along with generic and repetitive lyrics about girls and parties that doesn't taste so good on its own.
