A vinaigrette should be sweet as to reduce the bitterness of greens. Good pop music should put you in a state of equilibrium and such, it too should be sweet. The French Kicks have been enhancing their musical recipe since 1998 and with their latest release, Two Thousand - they've created what they have been looking for.
Two Thousand contains ten tracks of mind-soothing music. Tracks open with repetition, tight drumming, and worldly styles which slowly explode into a multitude of riffs, bridges, and drumming sequences. The French Kicks blend pop, post-punk, new wave, and dance seamlessly and almost effortlessly. Vocally, there is hardly any poetic content and many songs consist of oohs and aahs but when you're dancing or relaxing are you looking for metaphors and symbolism anyways?
Two Thousand would be the perfect vinaigrette to pour over life - just sweet enough to enhance, but not to drown out all the flavors in the world. Relax, dim the lights, and listen - but don't forget to breathe.
