The only thing Scissors for Lefty may bring to the world is a humorous name and sage advice for the southpaws of the world (the whole 11% of them). Oh, and one not-so-memorable recording career (most likely).
This EP to the record Underhanded Romance, which may or may not be released somewhere in the world, features four track of quirky and absurd nervous pop rock songs. Whenever a guitar's distortion mimics a vocal "doot doot," that qualifies as quirky no matter the circumstances.
"Lay Down Your Weapons" combines a getting-out-of-jail scenario and a relationship into an analogy featuring an airport. Ok. I figure skirting the obvious worked for REM, might as well work for the 18th generation alternative bands. The bouncing "Mama" follows a ballad tangent and features a rare appearance of the vaunted Jew's harp.
Unfortunately, the Jew's harp can't save this EP from being forgettable. Neither stellar or horrible, at best uppity background music to make you anxious while shopping for Jew's harps.
