Where do I begin with this album? Lyrics - ah, Mike TV dosen't hold his tongue or his thoughts; "Fuck growing old/ Fuck feeling like a failure/Fuck the songs I wrote/I'm going home so I can be with you." I found myself chuckling at the nonsense. It's cute, yet, will it be a winner? This is just from the first song "It's Alright." Oh, but does it get better? It depends on who you ask.

Get Set Go have won fans with songs that have been featured on TV's Grey's Anatomy and Weeds. However, 15 songs later after "It's Alright" there are only a few which truly catch one's attention. "I'll Be Your Heroin," speaks like someone with experience of using or knowing someone who was a user. "I want to be the monkey on your back, I want to be your heroin." His desire to be with this person becomes an addiction (an obsession) until physical demise. Talk about lingering affections. "I'm A Goner," is not only a catchy tune but I found myself agreeing with Mike; "Why oh why do I play with fire/When I know that I'll get burned/All the scars that I've acquired/You would think that I would have learned."

Oh, the icing on the cake is "Fuck You (I Want To)." Mike believes in being tormented and inflicted punishment upon: "When you let me come inside/It's like a slice of suicide." Hmmm...typically the act itself should sound a bit more pleasant than that, but you wonder what he truly is feeling - perhaps numb?
