Sandra Brown’s newest novel Smoke Screen is set to hit stores the week of August 11. The new novel is a murder mystery/romance in keeping with Brown’s style and has been reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly as a “slightly formulaic thriller” with highly stereotyped characters that could be either offensive or just boring to the reader. In spite of the review, the plot design seems to be very clever and interesting and the book sounds like something that would make for excellent summer reading.
Brown first achieved popular success as a romance novelist in the 1980s and has been striving for the past two decades to recreate her version of the genre, making her books more complicated and more literary than those written by other novelists of the genre.
