Penguin China, Penguin books’ three year old location in China, has announced a writing contest pending in the country. The contest, called “The Next – A Search for the New Face of Chinese Literature,” is a literary prize for the up-and-coming literary writer in China. The prize includes $146,000, a publishing contract, an advance and the payment of any outstanding college debts.
The entered manuscripts will be submitted by writers by September 2008 when a panel of judges will choose 36 finalists. The manuscripts will be released to the public until a winner is chosen and announced by April 2009.
