Theodore Solotaroff, the man who started The New American Review in 1967, died Friday at 80 years old. According to his son, the cause of death was complications from pneumonia.
The New American Review was created to be a showcase for what American audiences considered to be a highly unusual literary group, featuring such rising generational writers as Philip Roth, William H. Gass and Mordecai Richler.
Solotaroff was the writer of several books throughout his life as well.
