There's a lot of manga out there these days. Everything from romantic comedies to in-depth dramas. Somewhere within that vast spectrum lie many, many volumes of manga that are nothing special. Princess Resurrection is one of them.

The story, so far as I can glean any story, is fairly generic. Hiro is a blood warrior. He has to fight vampires, demons, and other monsters. All the while, he is dependant on Princess Hime who gave him immortality in the first palce. She's in charge and all Hiro can do is try to survive. And quote as many cliché phrases as possible.

I think Princess Resurrection is trying to be funny. But I'm not really sure. There's the names. Hiro for the protagonist, a legitimate Japanese name that just happens to sound like "hero." Hime is the Japanese word for princess. So Princess Hime's name literally translates as "princess princess." I have no idea if this is an attempt to be funny or just a very bad translation. Either way, it's not doing anything for me.

The volume itself is an overwhelming collision of the generic and the mundane. Sometimes it feels like Tsubasa, other times more like the comedic parts of Hellsing. What Princess Resurrection never feels like is unique. There are those who might enjoy this manga. It's generally comedic and it's definitively a fast read.

Personally, I think it's a waste of time.
