Many of us have heard the saying "mixing business with pleasure" before. We don't, however, take notice on how it now applies to anyone working theses days, especially when it isn't intentional. For Kagetora a noble ninja mixing business with pleasure or anything of the source never becomes an option. When called upon a task of protection for any civilian, Kagetora not only makes it a number one priority when working but also a twenty- four hour duty to serve. Maintaining a heroic rep may cause some arrogance and cockiness in some. However neither arrogance nor cockiness does justice for Kagetora but instead over confidence seems just. When civilians look for the right guidance in protection it becomes inevitable when asking for Kagetora. Kagetora was offered the responsibility of taking a young girl by the name of Yuki under his wing. Just like any other task it was to be kept strictly professional, as time passes Kagetora found himself in a compromising position. Falling in love with essentially his "work" (meaning Yuki) was not part of his plans. To make matters worse, the girls cousin is sent to evaluate Kagetora, who she soon develops a liking for. It gets more complicated how does he go about rejecting this woman to remain professional in a polite manner? It doesn't stop their either, taking Yuki back to Kagetora's village may have not been the best idea, considering his feelings for her. Again it was inevitable by taking her to his village the two would talk more and learn more about one another, leading sparks to occur. How will Kagetora remain with the same reputation of professionalism and trustworthy if he associates with Yuki on a romantic relationship? His title, his ninja clan, his reputation all destroyed if he considers pursuing something with Yuki, what exactly should he do?
I loved the dynamic story plot in this comic. It's nice to see a real life situation that may or may not happen to many come to life through a manga comic book. In the beginning I felt it was a bit of a risky move by the author Segami to write about a possible romance and ninja tale that is suppose to apply to everyone. Boy was I wrong; it did just the opposite it was written wonderfully for all types. I would probably classify myself to be the type who roots for the couple to unite in the end. I like how big of a range it is for everyone, ninjas fighting, a possible romance blooming; it was constructed suitable for all types.
All in all it was a great read. Again I can not stress enough on how it ignites all types of readers. In my opinion I think every writers goal is to do just that, grabbing the attention from the mystery lovers, the romance novels, fantasy novel lovers, is a challenge. For Segami being able to apply all those types of reads in one book isn't the easiest especially in a comic layout. However, Segami did a fine job on hitting those areas to have diverse readers enjoy it. Bravo to the book, it's hands down four stars for me!
